Publisher's summary
The only sound in the room was Alexander's breathing as he lay in bed, gazing up at the ceiling. He tried to stop thinking, but persistent discomfort kept him awake. The lavender-scented candle on his bedside table gave the room's cold air a slight lavender aroma.
He climbed out of bed, the cold floor sending chills up his spine, the blankets feeling cool and silky on his skin. The only sound in the quiet house was the typical creaking of the floors under his feet as he made his way to his daughter's room.
When he opened the door to Lily's room, her perfume's floral and sweet scent hit him. The pillows on her bed were fluffed and perfectly positioned. But there was a problem. Lily's room was vacant, and she wasn't in her bed.
Alexander's intellect and heart both started to beat quickly. His footsteps sounded in the quiet house as he checked every room. As soon as he learned his daughter was missing, he panicked.
He sprinted outdoors, his feet hammering on the concrete, searching the pitch-black streets for Lily. The night sky was starry and clear, and the air was cool. In the distance, a car drove by, its headlights briefly illuminating the road.
A black van abruptly stopped before him, returning him to the present. Before he could respond, several vampires burst through the sliding door, overpowering him and dragging him to their lair.
As he was pushed into the van, Alexander's senses were on high alert, and his heart thumped in his chest. The little area was filled with the stench of sweat and blood, and the vampires' superhuman strength overpowered him. But he realized he had to act quickly to save his daughter from the same fate.
