Publisher's summary

Harry Lyon was a rational man, a cop who refused to let his job harden his soul. Then one fateful day, he was forced to shoot a man--and a homeless stranger with bloodshot eyes uttered the haunting words that challenged Harry Lyon's sanity: "Ticktock, ticktock. You'll be dead in sixteen hours...Dead by dawn...Dead by dawn...Dead by dawn..."

Critic reviews

“A razor-sharp, nonstop, suspenseful story.”(The San Diego Union-Tribune)

“Tumbling, hallucinogenic prose....‘Serious’ writers...might do well to examine his technique.” (The New York Times Book Review)

“Perhaps more than any other author, Koontz writes fiction perfectly suited to the mood of America...novels that acknowledge the reality and tenacity of evil but also the power of good...[and that] entertain vastly as they uplift.” (Publishers Weekly)

Great story!

I loved the story, characters, and narration. The only negative I have is that every character that was in distress or that was shouting was narrated in the same way.

So glad to revisit this book

I have always loved Dean Koontz, going back to past books in a different format (audio) it really does do it wonders. there are one or two parts that drive me crazy because it was audio, but that can't be helped, rather have it there then someone change the script so to speak.

In Dean Koontz style this is good, just remember the year that are represented when the narrative took place.

Masterfully done.

The story itself is altogether wonderful with a few hitches in reasoning here and there but certainly not enough to distract from the overall experience and enjoyment of a DK book.

The performance however is masterful. An absolutely wonderful piece of vocal performance art that I fervently wish was more commonplace in the audible library. Thanks Mr. Sanders for your skills and talents that brought the story alive and made it something so much more than it ever could have been in print.

Bravo!

Fantastical, Bittersweet, and Joyful

Dean Koontz and Stephen King are master storytellers. It seemed almost as though they collaborated on this story. Koontz brought his playful love of dogs ("gooood dog") and of California but it seemed as though King channeled the grit that exists in the "in-between" realms and that I love so much (abandoned lots and alleyways and in a makeshift cardboard home; the lost and forgotten places to which dark magic retires). Great characters that I cared about. I loved this book.

This is one of my favorites. Loved listening to it as previously I read the paperback version. Nice job. Thank you.

Another great read by a great author.

This is a non-stop page turner and keeps you guessing until the end. This book is a solid four for be because From the Corner of his Eye is just a hard book to top. Connie and Henry really deliver in Dragon Tears and is a thrilling ride all the way through.
