Publisher's summary

There are times in your life when you must laugh as life is just too short not to. In relation to being rich and retirement, most people are delusional as they spend their whole lives working toward a dream that is just unachievable. We have so many people who are educated, underemployed, and talented, but they get caught up in the hype and the folie a deux that permeates social networks and mainstream, entertainment news. Here's the reality. Every investor should own a bit of gold and have a diversified portfolio, but you are guaranteed nothing in conjunction with risk being a certainty. In fact, like a casino, the world is full of black swan events, swindlers, and crooks, so it's important to be realistic. I love Bitcoin, but I don't think it's an asset. It, however, is sexy, and it's easy to trade. Have you ever tried to sell gold? Exactly. There's no hedge against uncertainty even if you own land as this can be taken by governments, ex-spouses, family members, etc... The only certainty in life is uncertainty and death. In our final moments, no amount of wealth will matter as we will live on through the people we met, the friends we made, and the kids we had. Gold is a paperweight, cars don't run without electricity or fuel, BTC wallets require electricity and will be hackable with quantum computing, and stocks move up and down according to the whims of hedge funds and algorithms based on the latest and greatest entertainment news. I think people should invest in their education, and this includes equity markets as your experience will educate you. Honestly, if things get bad enough in a country in which you can't use money on the ground; gold will be sold well below market value if at all. In this scenario, it would be much better to have a bottle of bourbon, a pack of cigarettes, some canned food, toilet paper, a dog, and a bicycle. De-dollarization is nonsense, America will always be the greatest place on Earth, and the future will always be uncertain, regardless of how you feel about the dollar, what political candidate you support, what economic and political ideologies you believe in, etc.. Enjoy life, educate yourself, and relax because hope and optimism are infinite in combination being the only thing a person has, rich or poor! Baum was right; get off the yellow brick road! As Frost put it, one should enjoy the experience of the road less traveled as "it wants wear" and will make all the difference today, tomorrow, and in the end!
