This book is for men in relationships who want to embody more masculine energy. Men want to live with more power, groundedness, and clarity. Men who want to inspire more trust, lust, and devotion from their partner. But this is confusing territory. The modern world tells you that masculine energy is toxic. And that we’re all the same. That you need to be a "nice guy" who plays it safe. For most men, it is not at all clear how to live more from their masculine core.

Problems arise when our perception of the dream becomes clouded with negativity, drama, and judgment (of ourselves and others), because it's in these moments of suffering that we have forgotten that we are the architects of our own reality and we have the power to change our dream if we choose.

Story
Turning the other cheek does not mean standing by while the enemies of God dismantle Christian civilization and brainwash our children. Decrying the cowardice that masquerades as meekness, Eric Metaxas summons the Church to battle. An attenuated and unbiblical “faith” based on what Bonhoeffer called “cheap grace” has sapped the spiritual vitality of millions of Americans. Paying lip service to an insipid “evangelism,” they shrink from combating the evils of our time. Metaxas refutes the pernicious lie that fighting evil politicizes Christianity.

Story
The Qur'an, believed by Muslims to be the word of God, was revealed to the Prophet Muhammad 1,400 years ago. It is the supreme authority in Islam and the living source of all Islamic teaching; it is a sacred text and a book of guidance that sets out the creed, rituals, ethics, and laws of the Islamic religion. It has been one of the most influential books in the history of literature. Recognized as the greatest literary masterpiece in Arabic, it has nevertheless remained difficult to understand in its English translations.

No man fails on purpose. Quite the opposite. When our feet hit the floor every morning, we're looking for a win. But these are turbulent times to be a man. In gathering material for this book, Morley interviewed many men. Their input was powerful. And transparent. They agreed that it's increasingly difficult to juggle all their responsibilities as men, husbands, fathers, friends, workers, churchmen, and citizens. As Nick put it, "It feels almost impossible to live out a biblical model of manhood."

"Over the last four decades, I've met one-on-one with thousands of men. Most of them know that Jesus promised "a rich and satisfying life" (John 10:10), but too many are confused about what that looks like. In fact, I'd estimate that 90 percent of Christian men lead lukewarm, stagnant, defeated lives—and they hate it. When men try to put into words what's holding them back, they invariably describe one or more of seven symptoms. But you can experience a powerful life transformed by Christ. I'll tell you how." The world needs real men, real bad. And there are all sorts of conflicting ideas and messages about what a "real man" is (and is not). Is a real man one who hunts, loves sports, grills meat, fixes cars, and climbs mountains? Sure, sometimes. But that's not really the point of being a man. Brant Hansen paints a refreshingly specific, compelling picture of what men are made to be: "Keepers of the Garden." He calls for men of all interests and backgrounds to be ambitious about the right things and to see themselves as defenders of the vulnerable, with whatever resources they have.

I’m on my second listen to this book. Within the first chapter, I stopped in my tracks when the author explains his first session with his counselor how he pushes people away, including his parents to avoid the cost of being rejected… So profound and relatable. I recommend this book for any many with a broken past, or even turbulent upbringing. Whether your parents stayed together or divorced.
