Story
Through personal experience and countless conversations, speaker and Bible teacher Jennie Allen has come to realize that most of us need to unlearn some deeply damaging messages about our emotions. We've been taught, for example, that emotions are untrustworthy when, in fact, they are a gift from God to help us notice what is wrong and where we need to heal. Your emotions are not something to suppress or ignore. They are meant to be felt, examined, and shared.

Story
While there are many books about writing, none deal firsthand with the intersection of songwriting, storytelling, and vocation, along with nuts-and-bolts exploration of the great mystery of creativity. In Adorning the Dark, Andrew describes six principles for the writing life: serving the work, serving the audience, selectivity, discernment, discipline, and community. Through stories from his own journey, Andrew shows how these principles are not merely helpful for writers and artists but for anyone interested in imitating the way the Creator interacts with his creation.

Publisher's summary
James Van Der Beek narrates an unforgettable coming-of-age journey set during a transformational time—high school senior year. Packed with laughter, wonder, beauty, and heartbreak, this poignant audiobook based on a true story is a must-listen for fans of the classic movie Dead Poets Society.
Senior year was supposed to be the time of Colt's life, but when he meets Lucas Oliver, a college-aged vagabond with a mysterious past, Colt's life takes an unexpected turn.
Lucas mentors Colt and a group of eleven other senior guys, guiding them through a series of rites of passage over the course of the year. They are challenged by the power of sacred questions, courageous acts, and vulnerable authenticity, but the question remains: can Lucas be trusted with his unorthodox ideas about God, life, and death? Along the way, Colt's feelings for Noa—a "band dork" he has known for years, deepen as he falls for her bright green eyes and charming honesty.
As Colt and the group of young men explore the wonders, romance, and adventures of their senior year, they are confronted with an event that challenges everything they hold true.

Later that autumn, the English gathered their first successful harvest and lifted the specter of starvation. Ousamequin and 90 of his men then visited Plymouth for the 'First Thanksgiving'. People are drawn to libraries for all kinds of reasons. Most come for the books themselves, of course; some come to borrow companionship. For head librarian Kit, the public library in Riverton, New Hampshire, offers what she craves most: peace. Here, no one expects Kit to talk about the calamitous events that catapulted her out of what she thought was a settled, suburban life. She can simply submerge herself in her beloved books and try to forget her problems. But that changes when 15-year-old, home-schooled Sunny gets arrested for shoplifting a dictionary.

Story
The early decades of the nineteenth century saw the expansion of slavery, Native dispossession, and wars with Canada and Mexico. Mass immigration and powerful religious movements sent tremors through American society. But even as the powerful defended the status quo, others defied it. Edward L. Ayers's rich history examines the visions that moved Frederick Douglass, Margaret Fuller, the Native American activist William Apess, and others to challenge entrenched practices and beliefs.

Fantastic
Compelling story with an equally compelling narration. It was a delight to listen to. If you’re looking for a story to haunt you long after, you can find it here.

Mesmerized by the voice and then quickly drawn into the story.
I honestly purchased this because of James Van Der Beeks voice and the trailer on his instagram page. His voice is amazing for audiobooks but I was also quickly intrigued by the short clip of storyline. I had no idea what the story was really even about but just started listening. I was sucked in to the story within minutes. I’m listening to it now for a second time. I definitely need to check out Craig Cunningham’s other books.

Beautiful language and powerful quotes
One Night in a Thousand Years was a beautifully written book that successfully captured the essence of being a teenage boy, about to graduate from high school and head out into the world who is unsure of life, love and what’s beyond.

Traveling back in time.
I could not stop listening to this book!! Each chapter ends with you on the edge of your seat wondering what will happen next. This story was captivating and made me feel like I was traveling back in time to my own Senior year of high school. I felt like I knew each character personally and could identify with so many of their encounters, adventures, and questions about life they all wrestled with. Well done good and faithful servants for bringing this story to life! CARPE DIEM!!!

Loved
This was one of my most favorite books in recent months. I desperately wanted it to keep going but it also ended so perfectly I could hardly fault it. James VanDer Beek’s vocal performance was flawless and perfectly paired. I keep wishing every boy and man I know could be reading this, though as a woman in my 30’s, I so enjoyed this. 10/10 recommend!

A captivating listen and wonderful story!
An amazing coming of age story that really captures the feeling of figuring out your life’s meaning and purpose. It’s a very accurate, passionate and nostalgic book with great character development. I’ve read the book and now listened to the audiobook!
James Van Der Beek was a perfect fit for this story and gives a strong performance.

Incredible Story!
I am not a young man, but I am a mom to three incredible young men and I absolutely loved the time I spent listening to this book. James Van Der Beek’s narration is so good and I didn’t want the book to end!
