Long drawn story with a lot of clichés

I think the story might have benefited from a different narrator. It’s a loooong transport stretch to the different (predictable) clues, and a lot of introspective monologue from the main character. And I think that’s the stumbling block I just couldn’t get past. The main character talks to himself, thinks, remembers, feels, guesses about other people, talk to other people… it’s all from his perspective and quite honestly, the guy isn’t all that interesting to listen to.
The side characters have so much potential but they are one-dimensional and not given any other depth, apart from some old psychological clichés about why they are the way they are.
The narrator does a fairly good job but just doesn’t have the range to convincingly do different voices/dialects or modulate his breathy narration. An introspective monologue is told with the same breathy intensity as an action packed scene.
Good book to have in the background, but not really enough to keep my full attention.

Good story with an excellent performance + pie

The book did become a little intense for me but I don't usually listen to scary stories. I was satisfied with the ending so all is right in my wimpy world. The narrator did a great job and kept me riveted. I got up at 2 am because I needed to find out how everything came out. I cleaned the kitchen and made lemon meringue pie while finishing the book. All those lights were totally necessary. That's my story and I'm sticking with it.

Horrible narration, okay book

The number of people giving this 5 stars and praising the narrator leads me once again to believe audible reviews are much like amazon reviews. Lot’s of fake reviews meant to bolster the product. The guy is fairly monotone. He sounds like he’s depressed and couldn’t care less about the story the whole time. I found myself zoning out more than once and having to rewind because he was so boring. The book was okay. I think the poor narration job may have detracted from the story enough to skew my opinion on the book.

Great voice and LOVED the plot twist!!

Josh is not my favorite narrator, his voice doesn't flux like some do, but I'll totally admit he was the reason I listened.

The story line was AWESOMENESS too, the twists had me thinking one way and then WHAM, it went a totally different way!

Totally recommend, great thriller!

Not bad for a free book

I thought the narrator did a poor job of reading through the different characters. If there was a woman speaking, it sounded the same as the main character. Which became confusing. Story line kept me listening but overall it was just okay. Good story to read between waiting for my credits to replenish!

Please Tell Me There's a Sequel -- or a Series!

Excellent. Fully held my interest from start to finish. Josh Jackson's performance set the pace and kept it there with palpable urgency. I'd love to see this become a series of novels. Two thumbs up.
