Publisher's summary

After Lyra - a princess incapable of speech or sound - is cast out of her kingdom of daylight by her wicked aunt, a witch saves her life, steals her memories, and raises her in an enchanted forest...disguised as a boy known only as Stain. Meanwhile, in a rival kingdom, the prince of thorns and night is dying, and the only way for him to break his curse is to wed the princess of daylight - for she is his true equal. As Lyra finds her way back to her identity, an impostor princess prepares to steal her betrothed prince and her crown. To win back her kingdom, save the prince, and make peace with the land of the night, Lyra must be loud enough to be heard without a voice, and strong enough to pass a series of tests - ultimately proving she's everything a traditional princess is not.

Slow and steady.

I am used to fast pace tales and after the first chapters I knew this wasn't going to be a tale like that. The author took time to build the story and put in details that wove a fantastic tale to be enjoyed slowly. I was never bored and never thought to put the book down. This is a great tale with lots of detail that covered every question you would have when reading it nothing was left out. Oh and the vengeance taken by the characters wronged was beautiful...

This book is for the True Fairy Tale Lover

Such a lovely story, and so magical. You're going to see reviews where people couldn't get into the book, or that the old adage that "love completes the girl" is so old-fashioned thinking." Let's remember for some of us our true love has completed us in some ways, and helped strengthen us, and in some case, soften our individual selves into a more secure and healthy person. The heroin in this story is strong and beautiful, and while she is happy with her life and herself, it's beautiful to know there is another being out there that makes her even more amazing. I believe that our loves, family and friends make us better versions of ourselves, and this is the moral to this very well told story.

Great Book

The story in the book was slower than the books I normally read. However, it was worth taking the time to listen to, because the story built up to become something magical.

Wonderful Listen

Loved this story. Plot line is wonderful. Captivating descriptions and a nice spin off of old fairytales.

OMG

I love these book!?! reminds me of when I watched the movie. It’s a darker idea, but an amazing idea. I love the way she writes, it gives a great image of what is happening!

I gave it full stars, because it was a work of art!?!

I haven't been so happy in a book since TOG

I just have to say, wow!!
this book was fantastic. The characters where amazing the narrative was enthralling. You felt the hurt and love. The story was fantastic. The Princess was amazing even with her limitations. i can't wait to read it again and again. worth a credit or to buy. I've read a lot of books through audible and this is one of my favorites sitting right next to Throne of Glass and Court of Shadows, highly recommend.

My new favorite book!!!

I don't know where to even begin, I absolutely loved this book! The story is extremely well written. It's got the perfect amount of imagery and the description is often worded in a way I wouldn't have thought to describe something but it totally works. The plot is engaging and never stagnant, but it's not so fast that anything is underdeveloped. A.G.Howard doesn't have to use anything explicit to make her story come to life or to give it an edge, I would recommend this to anyone who loves fantasy or fairytales. The narrator does a fabulous job, his voices really add to the story. I've already bought the physical book to give to friends to read and I've gone and bought the rest of this authors books, I loved this one so much! I can't wait to see what else she writes!

Amazing!

I don’t like leaving reviews but this book deserves it. At first, I wasn’t sure to buy this or not but I took a chance. The book was kinda weird and slow in the first chapters. As the book progressed, I couldn’t stop listening. This book had a Snow White/Cinderella feel to it but 100x better. The world that Howard creates is magical and intriguing. Take a chance, you won’t regret it. You think you have it figured out but you don’t!
