Publisher's summary

I didn’t mean to say I was engaged to a hot billionaire–it just slipped out.

In my defense, I’d had a really bad haircut, a really strong drink, and I was trying to save face in front of the Mean Girl at my high school reunion.

Lucky for me, I happen to know a hot billionaire. Hutton French and I have been friends forever, and even though big social gatherings are not his thing, I called him from the coat closet and begged him for a favor–show up and play my fake fiancé for the night.

Except that word of our engagement spreads like wildfire. Our families are ecstatic. We’re front page news. My little food blog is launched into the stratosphere.

Of course, I offer to set the record straight right away, but Hutton wants to give it a little time–the phony engagement will keep his matrimony-mad mother and every matchmaking granny in town off his back.

He even suggests I move in with him to make the ruse more real.

And we don’t stop there.

We practice kissing. Undressing each other. Saying things–and doing things–we’d never dare if we weren’t pretending. Because it’s all for show, right? We’re just role-playing. Hutton doesn’t want a real relationship, and I don’t want to get hurt. But the more time we spend faking it, the more I start to wonder.

Could Hutton French and I actually be right for each other, or is it all just one big tease?

Enjoyable listen!

Felicity McAllister and Hutton French have been best friends since middle school. She attends their ten-year high school reunion and finds herself trying to impress the mean girl. She tells an outrageous lie about marrying a billionaire (Hutton) and begs Hutton to help her out to save face.

I love how they decided to keep the fake engagement going and both of their families didn't even question it. They knew the two were meant to be together. (Why didn't Felicity and Hutton realize this?)

Hutton has social anxiety. He doesn't like crowds, talking on the telephone and has OC tendencies. Felicity is awkward and adorable. As best friends growing up, they both had feelings for each other, but never acted on it. Now, as adults, it is easier to try a relationship when they both think it's fake for the other person.

I really enjoyed this small town, fake fiancée, friends to lovers romance. I listened to the audiobook and both the narrators were really good.

A love story through the ages

Since middle school these two have loved each other. It takes overcoming each of their own obstacles to be able to finally admit their love. I really liked this story. The characters were relatable. Their love may not be perfect but it’s very romantic, sexual and real.
Good narration.

Friends to Lovers

Felicity and Hutton have been friends since they were children and have both felt more but couldn't take the step out of friendship. They even have their own written code and said they'd be there for each other no matter what. When Felicity needs Hutton to back her up that they're engaged, he doesn't hesitate. This is a chance for a fake engagement to become a real relationship for them if Hutton can get past his fears and Felicity can get over not feeling good enough. I really like this series about the next generation of Cloverleigh Farms. Samantha Summers and Oliver Clarke were great narrators.

Best friends to lovers & fake relationship…love these tropes

Hutton & Felicity are one of those couples who are destined to last a lifetime. These two have been best friends since childhood. The nerd & the band geek just seemed to get each other. They’ve been there for each other through so much & always pick right up where they left off. Their acceptance of each other’s idiosyncrasies & their embarrassing or awkward moments just seems to bring them closer.

When Felicity’s penchant to just blurt things out puts her in a precarious position, all it takes is one coded text to get Hutton to come to her rescue. As the rescue mission ensues, they both find that deep down their feelings for each other are a little stronger than expected. But are these feelings something they can share with each other? Or will the admission from either ruin the lifelong friendship they’ve shared?

I loved the way that both of their families embraced their fake relationship & didn’t seem surprised at all. They all had seen the underlying feelings from childhood & were just waiting on Hutton & Felicity to see it. When these two finally connected…wowza!!!! Hutton the nerd had some skills.

Samantha Summers & Oliver Clarke’s portrayals of these characters was spot on. They drew me in & kept me wanting more and more.

Another one

This book was almost as hard to believe as the previous book in series; pretty wild until the sex part, now this was more real. The narrators did a great job. Will listen to the next book in series to see if the theme continues.

Hutton and Felicity ❤️❤️❤️

Wowza! I just loved this book. The “practice scenes”, swoon, Hutton is *chefs kiss* I think this may be my favorite in the series so far. The narrators were great! It will definitely make my re-read list.

friendship that last decades can be more

Hutton and Felicity have been friends for years. They have had each others back. They know and understood the quirks of each other. There was a simple code/bat signal that needed to be sent and the other would be there no matter what. Felicity had to deploy the bat signal. It maybe that it was a very good thing the she did. These two have had the almost moments, but this time it was going to happen. Something of convince turns in to their forever. There were a few bumps along the road but Felicity and Hutton had this bond that would be their glue.

A new series for me. I may have come in on the tale end of it but will be heading back around to get the rest of the stories from this series. I enjoyed both Samantha and Oliver. The brought the characters to life and give a little more depth to the words from Melanie. Thank you all.
