Undaunted by Lord Thingol’s challenge, Beren and Lúthien embark on the supremely heroic attempt to rob Morgoth, the greatest of all evil beings, of a Silmaril, one of the hallowed jewels that adorn the Black Enemy’s crown.

Story
The tale begins in Dark Age Britain, a land where Arthur has been banished and Merlin has disappeared, where a child-king sits unprotected on the throne, where religion vies with magic for the souls of the people. It is to this desperate land that Arthur returns, a man at once utterly human and truly heroic: a man of honor, loyalty, and amazing valor; a man who loves Guinevere more passionately than he should; a man whose life is at once tragic and triumphant.

Story
Lovers of legends know that this is the finest retelling of the story of King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table; lovers of literature know that this is the greatest of all 19th-century narrative poems. In Tennyson’s gloriously written tale of swashbuckling feats on and off the jousting field, the honour of maidens, knights, queens and kings is won or lost. Above all, the Quest for the Holy Grail spurs the bravest of knights on to deeds of terrifying foolhardiness and courage.

Story
The year is 1327. Franciscans in a wealthy Italian abbey are suspected of heresy, and Brother William of Baskerville arrives to investigate. But his delicate mission is suddenly overshadowed by seven bizarre deaths that take place in seven days and nights of apocalyptic terror. Brother William turns detective, and a uniquely deft one at that. His tools are the logic of Aristotle, the theology of Aquinas, the empirical insights of Roger Bacon-- all sharpened to a glistening edge by his wry humor and ferocious curiosity.

Shabby and lumbering, with a face like a Norfolk dumpling, Father Brown makes for an improbable super-sleuth. But his innocence is the secret of his success: refusing the scientific method of detection, he adopts instead an approach of simple sympathy, interpreting each crime as a work of art, and each criminal as a man no worse than himself… Here you will find the complete Father Brown stories in the chronological order of their original publication. The Innocence of Father Brown Starts at Chapter 1, The Wisdom of Father Brown Starts at Chapter 13.

Story
The modern audience hasn't had a chance to truly appreciate the unknowing dread that readers would have felt when reading Bram Stoker's original 1897 manuscript. Most modern productions employ campiness or sound effects to try to bring back that gothic tension, but we've tried something different. By returning to Stoker's original storytelling structure - a series of letters and journal entries voiced by Jonathan Harker, Dr. Van Helsing, and other characters - with an all-star cast of narrators, we've sought to recapture its originally intended horror and power.

Watch out for the animal violence!
I should preface this review by saying that I usually listen to audiobooks to get to sleep; only rarely do I ever listen to a book that I haven't actually read before, since it frustrates me not to be able to keep up with the storyline of something with which I'm not familiar. This is about the only series of Arthurian tales I haven't read before, so I thought it was all well. I loved Sword in the Stone, though I was surprised at the level of violence; still, it was tolerably within my threshold. However, at one point during this second installation, I awoke in the middle of the night to a gruesome and shockingly graphic description of violence done to an animal. Perhaps at 35 I am too old to be getting nightmares from books, but I did--for about a week afterward!! I don't think I am extraordinarily sensitive; perhaps a little bit. I felt compelled to report it, in case I might spare someone else who is equally sensitive. As for the actual production, it is stellar. The narrator is absolutely wonderful.

Superb!
The writing excellent, the humor delightfully British, the philosophy truly profound, and the story engaging.

I've been waiting for this...
I've been waiting endlessly for this cherished childhood favorite to be released as an audiobook. This edition is the second and third sections of T.H. White's epic "The Once and Future King." In order to appreciate this audio version, you really should read "The Sword in the Stone" first. It all flows together beautifully.
If I tried to tell you how superbly T.H White writes, you probably wouldn't believe me. The narrator does a smashing job of bringing the dialogue to life. I know I'll be listening to this book and "The Sword in the Stone" again and again over the years.
Sadly, at the time I'm writing this, the final section of "The Once & Future King," which covers the last years of King Arthur, is not yet released in audio format. Hopefully this will be soon be remedied!

Warning for Parents: sexual situations depicted
Any additional comments?
Same high standard of writing as in the first book but the description of the Lancelot/Guenivere romance gets into sexual situations that parents may not wish younger children to be exposed to.
