Publisher's summary

Worship leader and recording artist Laura Story's life took an unexpected turn when her husband, Martin, was diagnosed with a brain tumor. Their lives would never be the same. Yes, with God all things are possible. But the devastating news was that no cure existed to restore Martin's short-term memory, eyesight, and other complications. The fairy-tale life Laura had dreamed of was no longer possible. And yet in struggling with God about how to live with broken dreams, Laura has found joy and a deeper intimacy with Jesus.

Laura helps us understand we aren't the only ones whose lives have taken unexpected turns. She examines the brokenness of some of the heroes of our faith and shows how, despite their flaws and flawed stories, God was able to use them in extraordinary ways. And it was not because of their faith but because of the faithfulness of their God.

God may not fix everything. In fact, although your situation might not ever change or get better, with Jesus you can.

Very relatable to my life

My wife is chronically ill with Lyme disease. I can relate so much to Laura's story. Listened to it on audiobook. Going to go back and reread chapter 19 on e-book because it sounded like she dug at heart issues. I want to work on my heart in order to serve my wife better.

Great book, not too crazy about the reader

the story is very God centered, and sincere. Definitely uplifting. The reader though seems cold at times, almost robotic. Not always. Only on some parts, but it does mess up perception of author. Once I remembered it wasn't the author writing I was able to get more into it.

Finding God’s strength in the storm

Although the book was amazing, chapter 19 was life changing for me. I left a marriage because of things that my husband was doing. During chapter 19, I realize very quickly that I was not an innocent bystander. That I wasn’t willing or open to taking a serious look at what I was bringing to the table.

Fitting for the book.

I was at my all-time low when I was directed. By God, can't say anyone else but God to search audible and here comes this book. I started it but stopped. It was too much. But when one of my friends started to experience marriage the same way I did. I was compelled to go back to it. I am now motivated to tell my story no matter how hard it is to share and how bad it is. Thanks, Laura.

Another Must-Read

What a remarkable story! Whether you are experiencing a struggle or not, this is a book that will change your perspective. Many Christians see Christ as a vending machine. If we do this or that, we will get what we want. However, we should not serve Him because of what He can do for us. We should serve Him because we love Him. And even when he doesn't "fix" our problems, we must be ready to declare- It Is Well with My Soul.

Repeat Listener

Such a beautiful story of their lives. I have listened to this numerous times to get me through hard times. Even my 6 year old asks for it. Such a great book of faith, love, hard times, and never giving up! Not to mention Laura has a beautiful singing voice. This book lifts, inspires, and helps you keep going when it's the hardest thing to do. I will keep quotes and scripture she shares. Always inspiring!
