Publisher's summary

“A must-read thriller from a brilliant new talent in the genre.” —Jack Carr, #1 New York Times bestselling author

This “adrenaline rush of a novel” (Lisa Gardner, #1 New York Times bestselling author) follows a shadow operative in the midst of a conspiracy with worldwide implications from the author of the “fast-paced international thriller” (New York Journal of Books) Sleeping Bear.

Set a trap… See who comes.

Under the direction of the Special Activities Center in the Operations Directorate of the CIA, over three hundred highly trained agents operate in the darkest shadows of the country’s covert wars. Plucked from the highest echelons of America’s special mission units, these individuals go through rigorous training by the Agency to perfect the arts of assassination, sabotage, infiltration, and guerrilla warfare.

According to the United States government, this Ground Branch of the CIA does not exist. But when diplomacy and military intervention fails, the President of the United States calls upon it to solve America’s most dangerous crises.

Brian Rhome, a former Ground Branch paramilitary officer, thought his time within this elite group was over. But now, he’s on a desperate race against time around the globe as he confronts the traumas of his past and unravels a deadly conspiracy that threatens the highest levels of American democracy.

JW’s Review

I felt the book was ok. It was an interesting story. However, after listening it on Audible, I felt the book could have been 30% shorter. I sped the speed up to even enjoy the narrator. I couldn’t even figure out who the main character. It was a creative story.

Book 2, please

This tale stunned me into silence. The twists and turns of the plot surprised me with every chapter, but what really got me was character. The pain was real, the heroism exciting, as were corruption and blind ambition. There were so many shadowy characters, I never knew where the good guys were coming from but was pleased to see the changed hearts. I hope and pray there are many more sequels. Love Brian Rhome. Love this writer.

Just alright

Didn’t love the f words and it seemed to push a liberal agenda with stereotype characterizations of conservatives. Overall, just alright.

Brave, poignant, and so fun!

A fast paced international spy tale that kept me up listening way past my bedtime. Vivid and sharpl, it is a timely story that is grounded in our world. Incredibly well researched and exciting. I look forward to Conmor Sullivan's next book!

The narration is fantastic and brought the book and character into life, one of the best I've heard!

Continue Rhône’s character

Great story line! Great characters! Great Narrator! I hope Rhône’s character continues! Rhône can be the next Mitch Rapp, Scott Harvath and James Reece!

Great Book 20 Years Ago, Not So Much Today

Maybe I'm just spoiled, having listened to Armand Shultz read all of Brad Thor's books. The narrator is terribly boring on this audio book. I mean, put- you- to- sleep boring. I'll admit, the only reason I even bought Wolf Trap is because Brad Thor referred to it in Dead Fall. Honestly, it was pretty nice of Brad to do that, because this book is no where near the quality of the Scot Harvath series by Thor. It's an utterly predictable, non-believable attempt at being a spy thriller. The story drags, and then jumps suddenly from the Protagonist to other random characters. The story line itself is like something a high school kid would come up with to make their west coast public school creative writing teacher happy. The Green Accord? Seriously? Lol. If you're a Vince Flynn, Tom Clancy, Brad Thor, etc., fan, don't waste your time listening to this. You'll have the entire plot and twist figured out in the first 30 minutes. Snoozer.

Excellent narration and unrealized potential

Narration was top of class, excellently done.

Unfortunately, the story itself suffered in two key areas. First, premise is utterly outlandish - the ridiculous 18 month budgeting, site selection, and construction of seven new nuclear plants worldwide. I don’t mind suspending disbelief a little, so I continued to listen after the ridiculous stage setting of the Green Accords in which all environmental permitting was completely waived. However, how a small team switched overnight a major component that each individually would be difficult with heavy machinery at best, was never explained at all. The dynamics of the royal court of Saudi Arabia were also unexplored. The main character, I guess, was also much less interesting than many of the supporting characters. I hope for better next time, but this is not Mitch Rapp, Scot Havrath, and definitely not Ding Chavez or Jack Ryan
