    Jun 11 2024
Gabby Petito's case is a tragic story that captured national and international attention in 2021. Here's a summary of the key events:
    1. Road Trip: Gabby Petito, a 22-year-old aspiring social media influencer, embarked on a cross-country road trip in July 2021 with her fiancé, Brian Laundrie. They traveled in a white Ford Transit van, documenting their journey on social media.
    2. Disappearance: Gabby last communicated with her family in late August 2021 while in Wyoming. On September 1, 2021, Brian Laundrie returned to his home in North Port, Florida, without Gabby and in the van they had been traveling in.
    3. Missing Person Report: Gabby's family reported her missing on September 11, 2021, after not hearing from her for several days and being unable to contact Brian or his family for information on her whereabouts.
    4. Search and Investigation: Authorities launched a widespread search for Gabby, focusing on the areas she was last known to be. Media coverage intensified as the public became invested in the case.
    5. Discovery of Remains: On September 19, 2021, human remains were found in Wyoming's Bridger-Teton National Forest. On September 21, 2021, the FBI confirmed that the remains were those of Gabby Petito. An autopsy revealed that she died from strangulation, and her death was ruled a homicide.
    6. Brian Laundrie's Disappearance: Brian Laundrie went missing on September 13, 2021, shortly after Gabby was reported missing. His family reported him missing on September 17, 2021. A manhunt ensued, with searches focused on the Carlton Reserve in Florida, where he was known to frequent.
    7. Discovery of Brian Laundrie's Remains: On October 20, 2021, Brian Laundrie's remains were found in the Carlton Reserve. The cause of death was determined to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound, and a notebook found near his remains included written confessions related to Gabby's death.

  • The Long Island Serial Killer: Asa Ellerup And The Choice To Remain In The Home (6/11/24)
    Jun 11 2024
Investigators are examining the possibility that Rex Heuermann may have committed some of the Gilgo Beach murders at his family home. Authorities conducted a thorough search of Heuermann's Massapequa Park residence, recovering a large amount of evidence, although no human remains were found. The home was described as cluttered, and items such as hairs, fibers, and potential blood traces are being analyzed to determine if any of the victims were killed there.

Ground-penetrating radar detected several disturbances in the backyard, prompting excavations, though no significant findings were reported from these digs. Heuermann, arrested in July 2023, is charged with the murders of three women and is a prime suspect in the death of a fourth. These women, all sex workers, were found bound and buried near Gilgo Beach.

Asa Ellerup, the estranged wife of accused Gilgo Beach serial killer Rex Heuermann, plans to remain in their Massapequa Park home despite the ongoing investigation and the belief that Heuermann may have committed some of his alleged crimes there. Ellerup has emphasized her connection to the home, where she raised her children, and has expressed her determination to restore and maintain it. After the extensive police searches that left the house in disarray, she returned to find it in a state of mess and is focused on fixing it up.

Ellerup, who filed for divorce shortly after Heuermann's arrest, has also been dealing with health issues, including cancer, which complicates her situation further. Despite the turmoil, she has stated her intention to attend Heuermann's trial and to withhold judgment until all evidence is presented.
