Fame, fortune...and a fatal obsession

Sahara Travis is used to being worshipped by adoring fans, but now someone is fixated on her in a dangerous way. After multiple attempts on her life, she reluctantly agrees to hire a security specialist for her protection, though the last thing she wants is some burly bodyguard invading her personal space.

Former army ranger Brendan McQueen's job is to keep the starlet safe and track down her would-be assassin. But when Sahara receives news that her estranged mother has been murdered and her father, the top suspect, is missing, Brendan quickly realizes this is much more serious than your average celebrity stalker.

With Brendan and her devoted assistant, Lucy, in tow, Sahara returns to her family estate in New Orleans to uncover the identity of her attempted killer before he can close in on his final target.

Just ok

Sappy story but still worth a credit.
What REALLY bugged me were the editor/author mistakes.
Louisiana has Parishes, not Counties. Beignets are served hot out of the oil and could never be found in a pantry; and who puts cinnamon-sugar on beignets??? Lastly, the funeral home, which is real, is pronounced “Shane”.
It was little things like that that made me roll my eyes , but the biggest flaw is that Sahara wanted to go to the French Quarter and listen to the music on BEALE street. She would have to travel about 400 miles to listen to that….

Good easy story

Little far fetched but well written. A little corny but I’m good with that in light reading
What you recommend for beach read

Decent read

Overall the story of Sahara and Brenden was a decent way to spend the time driving home from work each day. I just didn't enjoy it the way I had previous Sharon Sala books.
I will say that a couple of the attempts on her life had me rolling my eyes and pursing my lips. Plus, the climax of the story felt rushed and...less than.
The big reveal was a surprise but I wasn't invested enough in the characters to care more than a quick, "Oh. That's different."
Like I said, I have enjoyed other Sharon Sala books much more than this one. This one was just lacking to me. Maybe it was the setting or the staid existence or Sahara's whining.
SHEESH! The whining! Maybe it was all of the above.
Oh well. Onward and upward.
I"ll find a different Sala book. Hopefully, it'll be more engaging.

Geography problem

I really enjoyed this book, but Beale Street is in Memphis, Bourbon Street is in New Orleans.

Fun listen

thoroughly enjoyed the listen. Great story and it wasn’t too deep in dark. There are sometimes I just want to mystery that is not so blatantly realistic.
